School,,, A la French

Dear readers,

I am so happy so many of you have visited the site... So with no further ado, here is the next chapter of our venture:

On Monday, it was a harsh wake up call for all of us. Lessons in Derval start at 8.30am, so some of us coming by bus had to get up early... What's the difference with back home do I hear? Well, I know some of us back home do get up early to catch the bus, here it would be 7.30... Not that early I hear you say... But France is an hour ahead which means that your cherub had to take the bus at 6.30am (British time) and therefore wake up even earlier than that!
Anyhow, Monday morning started with smiles and lots of stories to tell. Everyone was positive and ready to enjoy our stay to the full, especially after a goodnight sleep :-)
It all started with meeting and greetings in the courtyard from Mme Goujon (English teacher at the "College St Joseph de Derval".

We were then taken of the tour of the school, and our pupils have learnt a great deal about the differences between the two schools. I do hope they will share that with you when they come home ;-)

All our pupils attended two lessons before becoming judges to presentations from the  french pupils who came to Derval. Their opinion was valuable to Mme Goujon who will award the final mark.

So after a long morning school based, we made our way to the canteen where pupil tasted "American burgers and Fries", along with two desserts. The experience of getting their meal "the French way" was embraced by all, as you can see in the pictures.

The afternoon was stress free, as we knew we were going to have a long day the following day. So, we went to Chateaubriant, a town half hour away from Derval. We mainly stayed in the Chateau, which was nicely shaded as the sun was quite hot then ;-)

A mini treasure hunt was organised on the spot, results to follow when I  get all the relevant pictures back.
After some much needed refreshment, we found a "park" where the youngsters ran to with great excitement! A lot of fun in a short amount of time was had... We even had a monkey bars race!

It was then time to come home, not too exhausted but in fantastic spirits... What a great start of the week, even if it was the simplest thing to organise! And trust me, with those smiles on their faces, it was worth it :-D

Until next time, bonne nuit everybody,
FR-J
